ON THE MOVE: Haitong International Hires Chen from UBS; Artemis Recruits Fidelity’s Anand

Hyde Chen

Haitong International has appointed Hyde Chen as managing director and head of investment strategy for its asset management division.

Chen has over 10 years of experience in the financial sector, most recently with UBS Global Wealth Management, where he was an executive director responsible for multi-asset strategies in mainland China and Hong Kong markets. Previously, he worked in equity analyst teams at AllianceBernstein and CLSA.

Paras Anand

Artemis Investment Management announced that Paras Anand, currently Fidelity International’s Chief Investment Officer (CIO) for the Asia Pacific region, will be joining the firm as CIO in early 2022. He will replace Matthew Beesley, who will be leaving Artemis at the end of this year. 

Anand joined Fidelity in January 2012 as CIO for Equities, Europe before moving to Singapore in 2018 to become CIO for all asset classes and functions across the Asia Pacific region. He is also a member of Fidelity International’s Global Operating Committee, leads the group strategy on Sustainability and is the global sponsor for Cultural Diversity.

Greg Hingston

HSBC Life and Insurance Partnerships has named Greg Hingston as its global CEO, effective 1. He succeeds Bryce Johns, who is set to depart the company in the new year.

Hingston has served within the HSBC Group for 15 years and was previously Head of WPB Hong Kong, Regional Head of Retail Banking, EMEA, Head of Customer Value Management & Head of International for Retail Banking and Wealth Management in Europe, and Global Head of Strategy for RBWM. Prior to that, he was at Prudential leading business development, strategic planning and M&A in Asia.

In his new role Hingston will be responsible for leading and growing HSBC’s insurance business, which globally, contributed around a third of overall WPB profits and around 12% of Group profits in the first half of 2021.

Pablo Sosa

NZ Super, the New Zealand sovereign wealth fund, has appointed Pablo Sosa as head of portfolio investments to replace George Crosby, who was named general manager for portfolio completion in June. Sosa will lead the portfolio investment team and drive the fund’s tactical credit opportunities mandate, a strategy under its global fixed income portfolio.

Sosa joined NZ Super in 2008 and has held various roles across the finance, risk, strategy, and portfolio investments divisions. NZ Super currently has around NZ$60 billion (US$43 billion) of assets under management.
